HAVASI Symphonic Concert | Carnegie Hall

Innovation meets Tradition

Hungarian pianist and composer HAVASI makes his Carnegie Hall debut with an innovative concert of his original symphonic compositions. Blending the depth and discipline of classical tradition with the direct communicative power of today’s music, HAVASI’s music moves and entertains audiences in equal measure.

A graduate of the world-renowned Franz Liszt Academy of Music, HAVASI’s special talent is the ability to engage directly with his audience. He is one of the rare contemporary composers with the rock star-like charisma that can sell out huge stadium concerts.

The HAVASI Symphonic concert is a musically enthralling and visually spectacular experience. Solo piano, symphony orchestra, instrumental soloists and singers all come together on the same stage to move and entertain the audience in a show that also uses all the very latest sound, staging and lighting technology. Firmly rooted in classical tradition, but weaving in elements of world and popular musics, HAVASI Symphonic takes the audience on an exhilarating musical journey with deeply emotional, yet entertaining music that has something for everyone.

Special Guest: Lisa Gerrard

The concert will feature guest star Lisa Gerrard, the co-composer and performer of Gladiator. The Australian singer, musician and composer became a world star as a member of the band Dead Can Dance. For the soundtrack of Gladiator, co-produced with Hans Zimmer, she was nominated for an Oscar and received the Golden Globe. Her characteristic, incomparable, painfully magnificent contralto voice is often heard in the biggest box-office hits of Hollywood. In addition to Gladiator, her own compositions were performed in a number of films, including Baraka, Heat, Mission Impossible II, Man on Fire and The Insider.
